What is Gestalt Art therapy?
Humanistic Gestalt Art therapy is a perspective that strives to help people fulfill their potential and maximize their well-being.
Gestalt Art therapy is a humanistic, person-centered form of art therapy that focuses on the client´s present life and challenges. Gestalt art therapists and their clients use creative and experiential techniques to enhance awareness, freedom, and self-direction.
Clients will learn to become more aware of how their own thought patterns and behaviours hinder and block true self awareness and self development.
Good candidates for Gestalt art therapy are those who are interested in working on their self-awareness but may or may not understand the role they play in their own unhappiness and discomfort. Gestalt techniques are often used in combination with body work, dance, art, drama, and other creative techniques.
No previous artistic experience is needed.
